FACTS ABOUT THE GOLFSIXES
GolfSixes is going to mainland Europe for the first time.
The revolutionary short form of golf arrives at Oitavos Dunes, Cascais in Portugal, Friday 7th and Saturday 8th June 2019.
12 different nations will once again compete over six holes with different personalities in a fast and fun new format.
Defending champions Paul Dunne and Gavin Moynihan will return to represent Ireland along with Players from England, France, Australia, South Africa, Scotland, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, India, Korea and Thailand will compete against each other for a prize fund of €1 million as the six-hole circuit winds around the Oitavos Hotel and unique Pool Terrace. The eventual winners will receive €100,000 each.
The 12 Nations will be joined by 4 Tournament invitation teams, including Host Nation, Portugal, namely Ricardo Gouveia and Pedro Figueiredo.
TV host Vernon Kay, along with a number of high profile commentators, will once again co-host the fast and fun six-hole tournament.
The Teams will play in a Greensomes format, where the teams select their best tee shot and then play alternate shot thereafter. On Friday June 7, the teams will be split into four groups of four, similar to the UEFA Champions League football group stages.
The top two teams from each group progress to the knockout stages – the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, a 3rd/4th place play-off match and the final – all of which will be contested on Saturday June 8.
Each of the 6 holes will have their own personality and colour, the Fan Zone will have a range of fan interaction activities across a variety of sports and fans will have the opportunity to win prizes through the day
