Genesis Scottish Open Volunteer Guide

The guide is designed to help anyone interested in volunteering at this year's Genesis Scottish Open.

Where can I park for the event?

You will be notified closer to the event by the Chief Marshal in the Volunteer briefing document.

Where is Volunteer HQ located?

Volunteers HQ is located beside the entrance to the Fan Zone village.

How do I apply for parking if I have a blue badge?

You will need to seek authorisation and make a request to the Chief Marshal.

Can I wear my own golf clothes?

We expect you to wear the uniform we have provided so you can be easily recognisable as a Volunteer Marshal. There is no requirement to wear golf shoes, just whatever footwear you find comfortable and will keep you dry. We just ask that any trousers or skirts be of a plain colour, ie, black, beige or navy, but no jeans, please. If the weather is particularly bad, you can also wear your own waterproof outer layers as your well-being is paramount to us.

What if I cannot come in before my first shift to collect my uniform and accreditation?

You will be able to collect both when you come in for your first shift. Your start time (report time) of your shift allows 45 minutes before you need to be on the course, so you will have plenty of time to get changed and check in.

What will I expect to see when I come into Volunteer HQ?

When coming into Volunteer HQ you will be greeted by a member of the Event Admin Team, who will check you in for your shift, and also provide you with your Accreditation and uniform if you have not previously collected it. They will then discuss the role you are about to undertake and advise you what you need to do next.

Is it possible to have a paper copy of the site map and tee times?

Due to DP World’s commitment to reduce their environmental impact there will be very few paper copies, but we will upload all these documents on the App, which you will be able to see on your smart phone. Anyone who does not have a smart phone please speak to a member of the team. There will also be a laminated A3 map in Volunteer HQ that you will be able to take a photo of.

Do I have to bring any food and drink with me?

Hot and cold drinks are available from Volunteer HQ throughout the whole day. Please bring a refillable bottle, water will be available at Vol HQ and on course.

You will be provided with a Public Catering Voucher, which is redeemable at all of the public catering units.

When will the Bloomerang mobile application open?

The mobile application will open approximately 7 days before the start of the event, All volunteers will receive a notification when the app goes live.

What else should I bring with me?

We recommend you bring a small rucksack or waterproof bag with you, for your lunch, water etc., and anything you feel you might need during the day. PLEASE NOTE that it is advisable to keep this with you at all times when you are on the course. You also might want to consider suncream and hand sanitiser.

What happens on a Friday night when the draw is made for the weekend shifts?

Once the draw is finalised, the Admin Team may need to adjust some of the shift times that are affected by the reduced field, for example a new tee off time. This may result in Bloomerang going offline while the work is carried out.

Please note your shifts have not been cancelled they will reappear once the work has been completed, usually mid evening. If this is going to happen you will receive a message via the App or an Email prior to it taking place and another message once completed. You will then need to refresh the App.
