Tickets for next year's Open Championship at Muirfield go on sale from November 1 and members of the public are advised to purchase season tickets before the end of January in order to receive the maximum discount.
The Open will be played at the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Muirfield from July 18-21, 2002.
After the success of Lytham St Annes, where the attendance of 180,000 was in line with expectations, the R&A have frozen ticket prices at 2001 levels and therefore for only £110, a spectator can have access to Muirfield for all eight days of practice and Championship play, a saving of almost 50% on the daily admission rates.
"We believe that the Open Championship represents very good value for spectators when compared with other major world sporting events," said David Hill, Championship Secretary of the R&A.
After January 31, a season ticket will cost £120 and from May 1 the cost will be £130. However in maintaining the R&A's policy of keeping the Open 'not all ticket', spectators will still be able to pay the daily admission charge of £35 at the gate.
