Always regarded as a solid ball-striker, Elvira enjoyed a standout season during the 2016 Race to Dubai, which saw him named as the Graduate of the Year by the European Tour after a breakthrough 2016 season saw him finish 44th in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex, six places ahead of nearest rival Brandon Stone.
A very helpful knack of performing well at big events saw the four-time Challenge Tour winner enjoy a strong finish to the season. Elvira finished in a tie for third at the Italian Open and posted back-to-back top tens at the Portugal Masters and the Turkish Airlines Open, on the way to being recognised as the best-performing player to have graduated from the European Challenge Tour the previous season.
The Spaniard’s significant improvement with the driver played a big part in helping him make the Final Series – with the 29 year old hitting the ball further than the year before.
Elvira has all the foundations to build on his 2016 season, so do not be surprised to see the man from Santander, who filmed the below virtual reality video with us in Hong Kong, performing well on the European Tour once more in 2017.
