2017 Player Watch: #4 Tommy Fleetwood

Few players finished the 2016 campaign as impressively as Tommy Fleetwood, who found some seriously consistent form in the second half of the season. From the D+D REAL Czech Masters in August to the season finale in Dubai, the Englishman made 11 consecutive cuts, finished in the top 50 in every one of those events on the way to posting seven top 15 finishes, and was a cumulative 101 under par for that period.

That run of form helped the 25 year old finish among the top 50 in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex for a fourth consecutive season, and post a stroke average of sub-71 for the fourth consecutive year as well.

Although Tommy didn’t add a second European Tour title to his résumé, another win is surely around the corner with Fleetwood continuing to challenge for titles down the stretch on Sundays, as he did in his first event of the 2017 Race to Dubai at the UBS Hong Kong Open, where he finished third.

Currently ranked at 100 in the OWGR, Fleetwood will be keen to kick on this season and get nearer to his career-high ranking of 47th. If he can convert some of those top tens into wins, he will every chance of doing just that.
