On the US PGA Tour this week, European Tour member Adam Scott of Australia fired a final-round 70 to beat Irishman Padraig Harrington by one shot and capture The Players Championship at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The victory was worth $1.44 million to the youngest ever winner of The Players Championship and the 23-year-old moves up 6 positions to No.12 in this weeks Official World Golf Ranking.
Padraig Harrington, who started the final round tied for 12th place, charged through the field thanks to an outstanding back nine of six under par 30 and he moves back into the World Top-10 at No.8.
Meanwhile on the Portuguese island of Madeira, Christopher Hanell from Sweden won for the first time, tasting success in the Madeira Island Open at Santo de Serra Golf Club. Christopher moves up from World No.523 and European No. 147 to World No.210 and European No.49.
