Adrien Saddier said that he is trying to stay in the present and enjoy seeing his name near the top of the leaderboard as he enters Sunday with a chance of winning his first DP World and PGA Tour title at the Barbasol Championship.
The Frenchman, who will enter the final round two behind 54-hole leader Trevor Cone at 15 under par, has a chance to earn his first professional victory in seven years thanks a third round 67 which included seven birdies and two bogeys
Enjoying the tougher conditions of Saturday, Saddier said he had to employ a lot of self-talk to stay calm as he hopes for more of the same as he targets his first Tour victory.
"Just a lot of self talk, to be honest," Saddier said of his mentality during the third round.
"Pretty happy, it was a good day. The weather wasn't the best, just tried to stay in the moment, to enjoy the position I have on the leaderboard as well. Yeah, pretty happy.
"Just try to stay in the present, try to breath as much as possible and just also to enjoy the fact of being on the top of the leaderboard.
"I like when the weather is tough. I mean, just I think it was on like 13 or 14 just par is a good score, so just try to stay on it and get a couple of birdies. Pretty happy with it."
The 31 year old’s solitary professional victory came on the Challenge Tour in 2016, with his best result this season being a tie for 13th at the Thailand Classic.
Since then he has spent much of his time going between the Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, finishing just outside the top twenty at DP World Tour Qualifying School.
Despite that, Saddier is remaining hopeful in the knowledge that he won once, and he knows that it could happen again.
"It was a long time ago already, but I mean, I did it once, so maybe I can do it again tomorrow. You never know what happens. I just have to be focused on myself and enjoy the moment."
First and second round leader Lucas Glover is part of a two-way tie in second place ahead of Saddier with Vincent Norrman, while Jayden Schaper and Nathan Kimsey are one behind the Frenchman.
Also in the top ten are a host of DP World Tour players trying to make the most of this opportunity. Tied on 13 under are a group of seven players that include Alex Levy, Marcus Kinhult and Daniel Brown.
