Alexander Levy found his best form, John Parry improvised well and Marcel Siem was in rock star mode on day one of the 2026 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Here is everything you need to know from Thursday's play at Heritage La Réserve Golf Links.
Tied at the top
Casey Jarvis and Scott Jamieson broke out of a congested pack to share the first-round lead at five under par. Jarvis, winner of two Sunshine Tour events in the past month, birdied the last to cap off a round featuring two eagles. Jamieson, whose one previous win on the DP World Tour came in South Africa at the 2013 Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa, birdied four of his first five holes and eight in all to offset a pair of sixes at the 15th and the first.
Levy back with a bang
There were another 13 players within two shots of the lead, with Levy demonstrating the quality that brought him five DP World Tour titles as he put himself in early contention at four under. Seven birdies and three bogeys had the Frenchman in a group of six players tied for second, which also featured 2017 champion Dylan Frittelli. Levy said: "It was tough, I played really good today. I'm really pleased with my game, I worked very hard the last months so I'm pleased the hard work paid off."
Parry finds a way
Defending champion Parry's third shot at the par-five 12th, from the troublesome lie pictured higher up the page, came to rest right on the edge of a bunker to set up an even more unorthodox stance for his chip - but he then produced an absolute beauty, and look out for playing partner Siem's reaction as well!

Dead aim over the water
Ryan van Velzen produced some outstanding shots in his round of 71 - none more impressive than this off the intimidating seventh tee to set up a birdie.
Tag a mate who’s going in the water here 🤣

On the rocks
Siem was one over par for his round but was in typically entertaining form. The German went up, up and away to get close to the 11th...

...and then produced a remarkable escape from just behind a dangerous-looking rock at the next.

Colsaerts the escape artist
Nicolas Colsaerts found himself in a horrible spot in a waste area beside the fifth green, but produced an exceptional chip to two feet to manufacture a birdie.
