Aguilar wins in his homeland

Chile’s Felipe Aguilar finished a massive 11 shots clear of the field in his National Open to win the 82nd Abierto de Chile VISA.

Aguilar shot a final round four under par 68 to record an overall score of 23 under par, leaving him comfortably clear of runner up Sebastian Saavedra of Argentina at the Club de Golf Hacienda de Chicureo.

Having led by 12 strokes overnight, the European Tour Champion carded another bogey free round on the final day of the fourth official event of the 2008 Tour de las Americas.

It meant the 33 year old finished the event having carded 24 birdies and just one bogey for his second Abierto de Chile title.

His impressive final score of 265 consisted of rounds of 65-67-65-68 for another triumphant homecoming.

Aguilar won two European Challenge Tour titles last season and has already won the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open on The European Tour this year.
