Andy Sullivan happy as history repeats itself in Cromvoirt

Andy Sullivan was left wishing he could play at Bernardus Golf every week after history repeated itself on day one of the 2023 KLM Open.

The Englishman holed his approach shot at the par-four 15th for a stunning eagle as he posted a first-round 66 which also featured a second eagle, three birdies and one bogey.

Sullivan revealed that his only previous hole-out since he began working with caddie Tom Ridley five years ago also came at the Cromvoirt venue.

And after moving to six under par - three shots off the lead - he joked the pair would like to tee it up at their happy hunting ground more often.

He said: "It was weird because in the five years me and Tom have been working together, I’ve only ever holed one shot and it was here.

"I’ve doubled my figures so hopefully we can just play here every week and Tom looks amazing.

"I had 181 (yards), wind out the right and I tried to hit my little hold-up fade and it’s just come out perfectly.

"Tom said ‘oh, it’s stiff’ and next thing you know everyone’s cheering and it’s gone in.

"It’s one of those where you’re happy you’ve hit a good shot and it goes in."
