Barr books his place in the 133rd Open Golf Championship

European Tour Affiliate Member Scott Barr booked his place in the 133rd Open Golf Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in July when he came through the Asia International Final Qualifying Tournament at Saujana Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur.

Barr, a 31 year old Australian teaching professional who lost in a play-off to Colin Montgomerie in last season’’s Macau Open, took one of the four spots available when he finished tied first with fellow countryman Kim Felton and Jyoti Randhawa of India on five under par 139, Barr carding rounds of 67-72.

“It’’ll be great to play in the Open, that’’s what it’’s all about,” said Barr. “One of my goals this year was to play in a Major and it’’s nice to achieve that. It’’s a big feeling obviously but it hasn’’t really sunk in yet.”

The fourth and final place went to Japan’’s Yoshinobu Tsukada who birdied the first extra hole to beat fellow Japanese Sushi Ishigaki, Jeev Milka Singh of India and Scotland’’s Simon Yates, after the quartet tied for fourth place on 140.
