Three of the most ‘in-form’’ players in the world at the moment, Rich Beem, Craig Parry and Adam Scott, have confirmed their participation at the forthcoming World Golf Championships – American Express Championship, which is being held at Mount Juliet, Ireland, from September 19 – 22.
Recently crowned US PGA Champion Beem continued his fine run last week with a top ten finish at the WGC – NEC Invitational at Sahalee Country Club. Parry ended a ten year wait for a victory in the United States when he took the $1 million first prize at the event.
Meanwhile, on The European Tour, Scott strolled to a ten stroke triumph at the Diageo Scottish PGA Championships at Gleneagles to underline his return to form.
Announcing the list of confirmed players on Thursday, August 29, Championship Director Peter Adams, said: "We are obviously delighted that so many of the top-ranked players in the world have committed to the event. With just three weeks to go there is great excitement in Ireland about seeing the world’’s best golfers in action at Mount Juliet. Rich Beem, Craig Parry and Adam Scott are all in wonderful form at the moment and their participation in World Golf Championships – American Express Championship adds further lustre to the event".
Already confirmed for the illustrious event are World Number Three and 2002 Open Champion, Ernie Els, Number Five, Sergio Garcia, Number Seven, Davis Love III, and 12th ranked David Duval.
Players can qualify for the WGC - American Express Championship through a variety of avenues. The top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday, Sept. 9, will be joined in the field by leading money winners from the six Tours that make up the International Federation of PGA Tours.
The Championship organisers expect to be in a position to make regular announcements on the field over the coming weeks.
