Oliver Bekker moved into contention at Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa before the first round was suspended for a second time in Durban.
The opening day at Mount Edgecombe had been delayed by seven hours dues to a waterlogged course, with England’s Daniel Brooks leading the way after an eight under par 62.
More than half the field returned at 6am on Friday morning to complete their opening rounds, and South Africa’s Bekker had advanced to six under par through 14 holes when play was suspended due to further saturation of the course.
European Tour winner Branden Grace and Darren Fichardt were also going well at four under when the players came off at 10:23.
