Calum Hill was proud of his efforts after a second successive runner-up finish on the DP World Tour.
Hill, beaten in a play-off at last week's Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, put that disappointment behind him to card a Sunday 67 at the 2026 Qatar Masters and finish second to Patrick Reed.
The Scot was five behind at the turn, having double-bogeyed the fourth but clawed back a shot at the seventh, but chipped in for an eagle at the tenth to spark a superb back nine.
Four birdies in succession from the 14th saw him emerge as Reed's main challenger as others faltered, though a tee-shot into rocks at the 18th prevented him from truly turning up the heat on the eventual champion.
Nevertheless, Hill said: “Yeah, it was great, I had a little bit of a blip on the front nine and it was a tough first nine holes.
“Dug in really well and played some really good golf on the back nine, I had a chance on every single hole – bar the last, that was obviously a little bit fiddly and messed that one up a little bit. But gave myself a putt for birdie, which was good.
“Other than that I had a really good chance on every hole and managed to convert a few towards the end, which was nice.”
Hill laughed off the shank which led to his six at the fourth, and which followed a similar miscue at the second play-off hole in Bahrain.
“I’ve been known to have a shank every now and then throughout my entire career," he said. "Typically if I’m playing well for some reason, I tend to hosel a few.
“Still stuck in there, was hitting good golf shots – I just think that front nine’s really tough, it’s just so hard to hit fairways on the front and from there, being out of position, it’s really difficult.
“The goal was to try to get back to par through nine. Bonus chip-in on ten from ten yards, which was really good, and then got going from there.”
