New Zealand’’s Michael Campbell and Colin Montgomerie of Scotland, two men who knows what it takes to win on the Asian continent, have confirmed their participation in this year's Caltex Masters, presented by Carlsberg, Singapore 2004.
The US$900,000 tournament, now in its fourth year, will take place at the Laguna National Golf and Country Club from March 18-21 and will once again will be jointly sanctioned between The European Tour and the Asian Tour.
Montgomerie, who won the Volvo Order of Merit title seven years in a row from 1993 to 1999, competed in the inaugural Caltex Masters event in 2001 and ended last season with victory in the Macau Open.
Campbell has won six times on The European Tour International Schedule, his first victory coming in Asia, in the 2000 Johnnie Walker Classic at the Westin Resort, Ta Shee, in Taiwan.
Montgomerie and Campbell will join a stellar field which includes the defending champion Lian-Wei Zhang, who pipped Ernie Els to the title in 2003, reigning Volvo PGA Champion Ignacio Garrido of Spain, and the man who holed the winning putt in the 2002 Ryder Cup Matches, Ireland’’s Paul McGinley.
