Campbell and Norman chase Record Heineken Classic Prize

Prize money for the 2001 Heineken Classic, the be played at The Vines Resort on February 1-4, has been increased to Aus$1.75 million.

In 1993 the Heineken Classic in its first year was played for $300,000. Each year we have increased the purse and in 2001 another $150,000 has been added,” said Tournament Chairman, Tony Roosenburg. “That gives me great pleasure.”

In 2001 Michael Campbell will defend his title and Greg Norman will make his fourth attempt to secure his first Heineken Classic trophy.

Roosenburg added: “It is an enormous privilege for us to have Greg Norman supporting our tournament again, and it is also great to have an early commitment from the defending champion Michael Campbell.”
