Amen Corner, the promoters, have agreed, at the request of the Real Federacion Española de Golf, to amalgamate the venue of the proposed Open de Canarias with the Open de España. The Canarias Open de España will now be played on the traditional date at El Cortijo Club de Campo, Gran Canaria, from April 25-28 with prize money increased from 1,200,000 euro (approx £737,000) to 1,720,000 euro (approx £1,056,000).
The European Tour is presently in discussion with a number of promoters to arrange regular or double-badge competition in the week of March 28-31 at which date qualification ends for the 2002 Seve Trophy.
