He has had his fair share of near misses, most notably a third place finish in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship at the start of the year and a play-off loss to Rikard Karlberg in September’s 72° OPEN D’ITALIA presented by DAMIANI, but with just two victory opportunities remaining this term, the 30 year was typically candid in declaring his disinterest in registering anything other than a tick in the
win column.
“I have another two tournaments left this year that count for The Race to Dubai, and then another two that I’m going to play after that, so hopefully I can pick up another win,” said Kaymer.

“Usually, I don’t really have a season without a win and I don’t want to have that this year. I wish I could pick up one down the road.”
Does that urge to satisfy his winning habit mean Kaymer is feeling more pressure with time running out in 2015? Not so, says the former World Number One.
“I see it more as an opportunity to fulfil my minimum expectations,” he suggests. “Especially if you win one of these events (in the Final Series). They are very big events, a lot of World Ranking points.
“That means the field is very strong, so it would be very satisfying. It’s not like a Major, but it’s still huge. I’ve never won one of these events, but I’m playing this week and next week and it would be very, very nice to win at least once in my career, and this year would be a good time to do it.”
Kaymer is currently 20th in The Race to Dubai and could force his way into the top 15 – the Bonus Pool positions – if he can succeed compatriot Marcel Siem as winner of the BMW Masters this week.
“It would be nice to finish somewhere in the top ten, maybe the top seven, top eight, that would be good,” he said.
“You know, considering that I didn’t have a great year, I think I’m still in an okay position because of a few good events recently. But the guys who are on top, they really deserve to be on top. They played very consistent and very well in the big events.”
With just two big events remaining, Kaymer is keen to put himself in that latter bracket too.
