American won with 79% of the vote
John Catlin has been awarded Golfer of the Month for September with 79% of the public vote after winning two events in three starts, claiming trophies at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
The American won his maiden European Tour title at the iconic Real Club Valderrama in testing conditions where no player broke par for 72 holes. The tournament came down to the wire with the 29-year-old holding off two-time Major Champion Martin Kaymer to win by a single stroke. He then followed up this win with a sensational final round 64 at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Castle Golf Club to edge out Englishman Aaron Rai for his second victory in three starts.
George Coetzee was second in the voting after claiming his fifth European Tour title at the Portugal Masters and a first since 2018. The South African finished two ahead of England’s Lawrie Canter at Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura.
Rounding off the voting was South African Garrick Higgo, winner of the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos - a dual ranking event with the European Challenge Tour - in just his seventh European Tour start.
