Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale - Day four digest

Everything you need to know from day four at The Celtic Manor Resort.

Shinkwin

Shinkwin showed how it was done, Syme was setting his sights high, Paratore was back in the groove and Dunne was getting dirty on the final day of the 2022 Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale.

Here is everything you need to know from Sunday in Wales

Shinkwin saunters to victory

Callum Shinkwin strolled to a stunning four-shot victory to claim his second DP World Tour title in style. The 29-year-old carded six birdies and five bogeys on Sunday to reach 12 under par for the tournament and continue his love affair with Celtic Manor, where he has finished first, fourth and joint-eighth in his last three visits. “The scores haven’t been there before this but this week was my week," he said. "Winning anywhere is fantastic, it’s a great feeling, winning with family and friends here it means so much more.”

Syme looking to build momentum

Connor Syme is another player who loves Celtic Manor, adding a runner-up to his third place finish at the 2020 Celtic Classic and he is steadily building his most impressive season on Tour to date. The Scot finished third at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Danny Willett and also has a top ten at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic as he looks to make it to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the second time. "I’m obviously pleased with solo second, I was aware that was going to be my best result - I’ve had a solo second before but for the points this is a slightly bigger tournament, I’m really pleased and it’s a great platform to build on," he said.

Happy days for Paratore

Renato Paratore is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour, a man known for his relaxed approach to his pre-shot routine and natural talent, but it is safe to say 2022 has not gone quite as he had planned. He made just his third weekend of the year in Newport but a closing 66 was his best round of the season by two shots and showed that class is truly permanent as he finished in a tie for third.

Determined Dunne gets dirty

Paul Dunne found some nasty mud around the penalty area at the third but there was no drop for the Irishman: shoes off, socks off, shirt off and have a dig. Pretty good result, too.

Gutsy from Guerrier

Julien Guerrier may not have had the Sunday he was looking for but he still produced a wonderful moment on the 15th. The touch, the use of the collar, the accuracy - beautiful.
