Chawrasia enjoying first visit to Mauritius

SSP Chawrasia hopes to maintain his impressive start to the new season at this week's AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

The Indian led going into the final round of the UBS Hong Kong Open before finishing in a share of seventh.

Having claimed a fourth European Tour title on home soil last season, Chawrasia is keen to go well again on his debut at Heritage Golf Club.

"This is my first year here," he said. "It's a really beautiful golf course with some nice beaches that I saw, so I'm enjoying the week to be honest.

"It's a little bit different because you're in the middle of the ocean, it's a beautiful place but it's different because it's very windy and will play very tough this week I'm sure.

"I'm playing very good just now. Last week I played very good except for the last round."

Sweden's Alexander Björk also kicked off his 2018 campaign in style in the Far East, finishing in a share of second.

"It was a great week in Hong Kong, I played really well," he added. "It was a little disappointing not to win but now I'm excited to be here.

"I just arrived last night and its my first time here but it was nice this morning to wake up and go for a little snorkelling tour."
