Cink claims third win at Hilton Head

Stewart Cink claimed his third RBC Heritage title on Sunday, carding a final round of 70 to win on 19 under at Harbour Town, 21 years and two days after his first.

The 2009 Open Champion, who had won at Hilton Head in 2000 and 2004, finished four shots clear of Argentina's Emiliano Grillo and American Harold Varner III, with England's Matthew Fitzpatrick in a three-way tie for fourth.

"It was just a really good, solid week all the way through. It was pretty spectacular the first two days, it was like I could do no wrong. Then the weekend was just a bunch of solid hitting, nothing exciting, but enough,” said the 47-year-old.

Meanwhile, US Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker claimed his sixth PGA TOUR Champions victory at the Chubb Classic Tiburón Golf Golf Club.

The 54-year-old closed with a five under par 67 in Naples for his first title since the U.S. Senior Open in the summer of 2019.

“I felt like someone could shoot a low number, and I was hoping it would be me,” Stricker said. “There's a lot of short irons on this course if you put it in play.”

Sweden’s Robert Karlsson, who shared the 36-hole lead with Fred Couples, and Monday qualifier Alex Cejka of Germany each made birdie on the final hole to tie for second. Fellow German Bernhard Langer finished tied sixth after a closing round 70 with Miguel Angel Jiménez tied ninth.
