Tim Clark and Brian Davis are the latest European Tour Members to earn a place in the US Open Championship after successfully progressing through sectional qualifying.
Their inclusion takes the total number of European Tour Members in the field to 24. The US Open Championship takes place at Olympia Fields Country Club, Illinois, from June 12-15.
South Africa’’s Clark, winner of the 2002 South African Open on The European Tour International Schedule, shot rounds of 64 and 68 to finish second behind Stewart Cink at the Double Eagle Club and the Lakes Golf and Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, and claim one of the 20 qualifying spots.
Engalnd’’s Davis, winner of the 2000 Open de España, won his sectional qualifying with rounds of 68 and 66 for a total of 134 to claim one of the four spots at North Shore Country Club, Glenview, Illinois.
Sectional qualifying was held at eight sites on Monday with five more sites scheduled for today. More than 750 golfers are playing for the remaining 83 places in the field of 156 players for the 103rd US Open Championship.
