Coetzee eager to make a splash in Mauritius

George Coetzee will be enjoying everything that comes with being in an island paradise this week but he insists he will be all business when he tees it up at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

The South African defeated Thorbjørn Olesen in a play-off to win the inaugural event four years ago and is delighted to be back at Heritage Golf Club.

Later in 2015 he broke his ankle while surfing but is still a keen surfer and will be enjoying the waters of the Indian Ocean this week.

"Lots of good memories from the first year here," he said. "I remember playing the 18th hole a couple more times than I wanted to but it was a good week. It was nice to win a tournament outside of South Africa and it was just a special week for me.

"It's very social, very casual but some very serious golf. It's a nice blend of everything. Try to get as much watersports in as possible but golf gets in the way of that.

"We are here to have some fun and play some serious golf as well.

"I might be burning out a little bit with the amount of golf I have played but I still feel like I'm playing pretty well. It's more about relaxing and keeping my energy levels up for the week.

"It's an all round golf course. You just need to enjoy your game for one, not worry about too many things, just hit decent golf shots and make some putts."
