Nicolas Colsaerts birdied two of his last three holes to beat Lorenzo Gagli by one shot and move into the last 16 at the Belgian Knockout.
The 2012 Ryder Cup star was the last local standing at Rinkven International Golf Club and he did not disappoint the huge local crowds gathered the watch the nine-hole knockout stroke play in Antwerp.
Gagli had birdied the opening tenth and after both men made gains on the 16th, Colsaerts hit a stunning approach into the 17th to level the contest up.
The Italian then missed the green with his second on the last and a bogey meant Colsaerts advanced to a clash against Dane Joachim B Hansen
The 27 year old won an all-Danish clash against Jeff Winther, birdieing the 12th and 17th while Winther bogeyed the 13th.
Top seed Jorge Campillo continued his impressive form with birdies on the third and eighth giving him a two-shot win over South Africa's Christiaan Bezuidenhout. England's Richard McEvoy is next for Campillo after he also beat a South African, needing just a single birdie to overcome Justin Walters by three shots.
The Scottish duo of Stephen Gallacher and David Drysdale may have finished six and seven shots off the lead respectively after two days but they were flying on Saturday.
Gallacher made birdies on the 14th, 16th and last to finish three under and beat Laurie Canter by five shots, while Drysdale birdied the first, second, fifth and ninth to beat Australian Dimitrios Papdatos by seven strokes.
Drysdale will next face New Zealander Josh Geary, who beat Australian Adam Bland by one shot, while Gallacher will take on Benjamin Hebert - a one-shot victor over fellow Frenchman Thomas Linard.
Mike Lorenzo-Vera showed brilliant form in beating Dane Søren Kjeldsen in a high-quality contest. The Frenchman birdied the tenth, 11th and 14th and, when he put a stunning approach into the 17th and made a nice putt on the last, he was five under to beat Kjeldsen by three shots.
Last week's runner-up will next face England's Matthew Baldwin, who played his nine holes in level par to beat American David Lipsky by three shots.
Oliver Fisher holed a 12-footer on the ninth to to take his contest to extra holes at level par and when Austrian Matthias Schwab made a mess of the second play-off hole, the Englishman was through to a clash with Frenchman Victor Perez, who beat Oliver Farr by one shot after the Welshman bogeyed the ninth.
Spaniard Adrian Otaegui made three birdies and a bogey in beating German Maximilian Kieffer by one shot to set up a clash with Englishman Matthew Southgate, who beat Jinho Choi after the South Korean bogeyed the ninth.
Second seed James Heath had trailed by two shots heading to the last but he made it four birdies in five holes and with Spaniard Scott Fernandez making a double-bogey, the Englishman went through.
He will next face Swede Robert Karlsson - a winner in Belgium in 1999 - who birdied the play-off hole at the third attempt against Chilean Nico Geyger.
