A host of new challenges will confront players at the One 2 One British Masters on September 9-13 following a number of changes to the Marriott Forest of Arden course over the past 12 months.
More than half a million pounds has been invested in the 7,106 yards Championship Arden Course as part of Marriott’s on-going programme to meet the demands of modern day tournament golf.
The fourth green has been re-designed and enlarged to 750 square metres with improved contouring to both the surrounds and putting surface. With the addition of two new fairway bunkers and a water hazard positioned to the left of the green, this 381-yards par four hole invites the big hitters.
Elsewhere, the 14th green has also been re-designed and the size of the putting surface increased. With the construction of a new fairway bunker on the left-hand side, this 426-yards par four will be a tough test.
More than 400 tonnes of new sand has been introduced to the 50 bunkers on the course following the completion of a new drainage system. Some 3,000 new trees were planted throughout the winter months including 6ft conifers introduced to the right of the second fairway.
Leading mobile phone manufacturer Ericsson is to become a co-sponsor of this year’s event, building on the company’s long-standing relationship with title sponsor One 2 One, the mobile phone service.
“We believe a mobile phone service should allow people to strengthen relationships with their key contacts, whether business or personal, free from the fear of a large bill,” said Tim Staples, Managing Director of One 2 One. “Much of the popularity of golf lies in the unique opportunity to ‘have a One 2 One’ with playing partners, so we are delighted at the prospect of ‘having a One 2 One’ with Ericsson, a long-standing strategic partner, at this year’s tournament.”
Alex Rodrigues, Ericsson Marketing Director, said: “The One 2 One British Masters gives us a unique opportunity to build upon our relationships within the telecommunications industry, particularly One 2 One. Television coverage in 83 countries will reaffirm out status as one of the leading international telecommunications suppliers.
