John Daly continued to enjoy a rich vein of form during the Nissan Open, firing a seven under par 64 during the second round to move to within two strokes of the lead held by Masters Champion Mike Weir of Canada and Japan’’s Shigeki Maruyama at Rivera Country Club.
Daly, a Member of The European Tour, followed his victory in last week’’s Buick Invitational with another impressive performance to climb eight places to fifth.
"It's probably one of the best ball-striking rounds I had in a long, long time," Daly said after firing eight birdies "I didn't really mis-hit a golf shot."
Spainiard’’s Sergio Garcia and José Maria Olazábal also climbed up the field with matching rounds of 65 to climb to six under par and six strokes off the lead.
