The inaugural Made in Denmark has so far proved a fitting celebration of Danish golf’s success on the world stage, and the home players are also using the occasion to give something back to their community.
Eight of the country’s European Tour players have joined forces to raise money for KidsAid, a charity which helps sick children in Denmark.
Andreas Hartø, who initiated the fundraising, was joined by Lucas Bjerregaard, Thomas Björn, Anders Hansen, JB Hansen, Søren Kjeldsen, Morten Ørum Madsen and Thorbjørn Olesen for a fun crazy golf match on Tuesday, pitting East Denmark v West Denmark over a miniature course replicating some of the world's most famous holes.
The players are also taking part in a birdie and eagle pledge during the tournament itself, with each player contributing 1000 Danish Krone (approximately €135) for a birdie and 3000 DK (approximately €400) for an eagle.
“The crazy golf was a lot of fun, goofing around with the guys before the tournament, but it is for a very good cause, for KidsAid for sick kids in Denmark,” said Hartø. “We are trying to raise some money across the week and the crazy golf kick-started it.
“In the tournament we are each contributing 1000 Danish Krone for a birdie and 3000 DK for an eagle, so hopefully we can raise a lot of money for the charity. It is a great cause and when we heard we were having a tournament in Denmark, we wanted to help them.”
