David Law optimistic for DP World Tour comeback campaign after HotelPlanner Tour success in 2025

David Law believes he is returning to the DP World Tour a better player for his time on the HotelPlanner Tour last season as he continues his comeback campaign at this week’s Crown Australian Open.

After six seasons on the DP World Tour, during which he won the ISPS HANDA Vic Open as a rookie in 2019, the Scot dropped back to the HotelPlanner Tour in 2025.

Despite only just losing out on retaining his full playing privileges via the Race to Dubai, Law largely opted to prioritise a full campaign on the HotelPlanner Tour rather than a concerted hybrid of events with the DP World Tour.

The move proved to be wise, winning twice - at the D+D REAL Czech Challenge and Vierumäki Finnish Challenge supported by Finnish Golf Union - across his 23 starts on the HotelPlanner Tour to finish second on the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

Having been outside the top 400 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Law now finds himself inside the top 200 after opening the new DP World Tour campaign with a tie for 41st at the BMW Australian Open in Brisbane last week.

With renewed belief, the 34-year-old is excited about his prospects back on golf’s global tour as he returns to a country which brings with it good memories.

"It's amazing to be back,” he said. “I lost my card at the end of 2024 which was obviously really disappointing and then I didn’t get it back at Q-School as well which was disappointing.

“But I was really encouraged by how determined I was and how much I wanted to come back and play on the DP World Tour.

“It was nice to be back on the HotelPlanner Tour as well, in a strange kind of way. I went back to a few venues that I played when I was last there in 2018.

“To be honest, I thought it was quite good for my game. To be up there competing at the right side of golf tournaments was good for me. I am delighted to be back, enjoyed my time back there again but it is nice to be back here."
