Davis climbs to World Number 54

Brian Davis secured his second career European Tour victory as he won the co-sanctioned ANZ Championship at the Horizons Golf Club in New South Wales, Australia. Davis finished the tournament with 44 points in the modified stableford format and he moves up 17 spots to No.54 on this week's World Ranking and secures himself an invitation for the first World Golf Championship event - the 2004 Accenture Match Play Championship. Runner-up Paul Casey improves 4 positions to World No.27 and consolidates his position as the highest-ranked English player in the world.

John Daly moves up 214 positions to No.85 on this week's Official World Golf Ranking as he beat Luke Donald and Chris Riley in a three-way play-off to win the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, California. Daly won the 2001 BMW International Open on the European Tour and the 2003 Kolon Korean Open but this week's victory is his first PGA Tour win for 189 starts. Chris Riley improves 4 positions to World No.23 while Englishman Luke Donald jumps into the World Top-100 at No.86. Jesper Parnevik finished tied 4th and his 3 Top-10's in 5 starts means the Swede moves up to World No.107.

In the weeks other World Ranking counting tournaments, South-African Warrick Druian won the Telkom PGA Championship at the Woodhill Country Club in Pretoria, South Africa and he moves up to World No. 383. Miguel Fernandez from Argentina fired a final-round 66 to win the Summit Panama Masters - the first event of the 2004 European Challenge Tour season. Miguel is the new World No.549= and is the 11th highest-ranked South American player in the world. On the Asian Tour, Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee won the London Myanmar Open and he moves up to just outside the World Top-100 at No.115.
