Day three digest: 2021 D+D Real Czech Masters

Everything you need to know from day three in Prague.

Tapio Pulkkanen climbed to the top of the leaderboard and Sweden's stars continued to shine bright on day three of the 2021 D+D Real Czech Masters.

Here is everything you need to know from Saturday at Albatross Golf Resort.

Pulkkanen powers to the top

Pulkkanen posted a sensational 66 on Saturday to open up the first 54 hole lead of his European Tour career and now he has his sights set on another milestone. The Finn is two clear heading into the final round as he hunts his maiden European Tour title, and he is confident he can get over the line. He said: “Winning of course is always difficult. I feel like I could do it tomorrow. I feel like I can play both aggressive and defensive here this week. I feel like I can win here.”

Eriksson's back nine birdie blitz

When Swede Philip Eriksson reached the turn on Saturday he was having a solid but unremarkable day, having carded two birdies and a bogey in a front nine of 35. But all that changed on the back nine, as he reeled off four birdies in a row from the tenth to jump into a share of the lead. A bogey on the 17th and a late charge from a few others left him four adrift of leader Pulkkanen but he has done his chances no harm with a third round 68.

Peterson's love affair with Prague continues

Paul Peterson has fond memories of Albatross Golf Resort, having secured his only European Tour victory to date here at this event in 2016. And he was playing some of his very best stuff in Prague once again on day three, as a round of 68 left him three shots off the lead with one round remaining.

Stellar stuff from Stenson

Major Champion Henrik Stenson treated the crowds to some brilliant golf across the opening two days in Prague and he was at it again on Saturday. The Ryder Cup star, who is looking to play his way into Padraig Harrington's thinking ahead of this year's showpiece, could not have been much closer with this approach to the 14th...

And after signing for a second successive 69 which left him two shots off the lead, Stenson said: "It would mean a lot (to win). I haven’t won for about two years, it would be nice to get another win under my belt. On the same note I’m all about the progress that I’m trying to make. I know when I get my golf game in good shape I’ll have chances to win tournaments still. I feel like I’ve got plenty to give. That’s been the frustrating part of not performing in the last couple of years, I’ve not been playing good enough. It doesn’t matter how hungry you are or how well you’re trying to do things if it’s not coming together. We’re making good progress and after three days we’re still at the races."
