DID YOU KNOW – BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

• Since 1955 the Championship has seen 44 different winners, from 13 different countries.

• The Championship is 60 years old this year, having first been contested in 1955 and won by Ken Bousfield at Pannal Golf Club.

• Rory McIlroy’s seven shot final round winning comeback in 2014 matched the largest in the event’s history. Simon Khan established the mark back in 2010.

• Rory McIlroy was only the second Irishman to win the title, following Harry Bradshaw in 1958.

• Rory McIlroy became the first player to win the BMW PGA Championship and go onto win The Open Championship in the same season.

• Rory McIlroy became the ninth different Major Champion to win the BMW PGA Championship.

• In 2015 The West Course at Wentworth Club will be staging it’s 35th PGA Championship and 32nd in succession, dating back to 1984.

• In 2010 Simon Khan became the first European Tour Qualifying School graduate to win the BMW PGA Championship the year after graduation.

• Scott Drummond became the first and only rookie to win the Championship in 2004, having graduated from the European Challenge Tour in 2003.

• When Matteo Manassero won the title in 2013 he beat Simon Khan and Marc Warren in a play-off, eventually winning at the fourth extra hole. This is the longest sudden-death play-off in Championship history.
