DID YOU KNOW – JOBURG OPEN
• Brandon Stone, winner of the BMW SA Open hosted by city of Ekurhuleni, will be looking to win back-to-back European Tour titles. The last South African to achieve this feat was Branden Grace, at the 2012 Joburg Open and 2012 Volvo Golf Champions.
• Brandon Stone will also try and emulate his countryman, Branden Grace in 2012 and win his first two European Tour events in back-to-back tournaments. Grace is the last player to accomplish this on The European Tour.
• Ernie Els is competing in the Joburg Open for the first time in 2016.
• Richard Sterne (2008, 13) will attempt to become the first player to win the Joburg Open three times. He has won six times on The European Tour during his career, with the last four all arriving on home soil. His last European Tour triumph was in this event three years ago.
• South Africa have won five of the last six Joburg Opens, dating back to the 2010 season. Dating back to the inaugural event in 2007, South Africa have triumphed six times.
• The Joburg Open has the largest field of the season, with 210 players.
• The Joburg Open is one of only two events this season to be played over two or more courses, the other being the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
