DID YOU KNOW – FACTS ABOUT THE 2016 MASTERS TOURNAMENT

• There will be 38 European Tour Members playing this year.

• Of those 38, six are making their first appearances. They are: Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Emiliano Grillo, Russell Knox, David Lingmerth and Andy Sullivan.

• The  field size is 89. Of those 89, 50 are international players. The biggest number of international players is 55, back in 2009.

• Costa Rica will have its first representation this year. Paul Chaplet gained an invitation for being the current Latin American Amateur Champion. This will bring the total number of different countries to have competed at Augusta to 39.

• There are 24 different countries represented. This equals the Masters Tournament record, set last year

• Of the 23 non- American countries, England have the most players with eight. Australia and South Africa come next with five apiece.

• Tom Watson is the oldest player competing, aged 66 years and 215 days. This will be the 1977 and 1982 Champion’s 43rd appearance at Augusta National. He made his debut in 1970.

• Tom Watson will have the honour of the player in the field with most starts, with 43. He now moves up to ninth in the list of most appearances.

• Sandy Lyle will extend his record for the most appearances by a European Tour Member. The 2016 event will be his 35th. The Scotsman has played every year since 1985.

• There are 17 Masters Champions competing. Between them they have won a total of 22 Green Jackets.
