DID YOU KNOW - SHENZHEN INTERNATIONAL
• The venue for the Shenzhen International is the A Course at Genzon Golf Club. This course hosted the 2014 Volvo China Open, won by Alexander Levy and the 2015 Shenzhen International, won by Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
• In 2015 the Shenzhen International became the eighth different official European Tour event to be staged on Chinese soil. (Is nine including the World Cup, which was a European Tour Approved Special Event).
• Having hosted the 2014 Volvo China Open, Genzon Golf Club became first Chinese course to have staged two different official European Tour events, when the 2015 Shenzhen International was played at this venue.
• The Shenzhen International is one of three events to be staged on Chinese soil during the 2016 season. The other two are the Volvo China Open and WGC – HSBC Champions.
• Bubba Watson will be making his six European Tour appearance in China. Four took place in the WGC – HSBC Champions. Here is his record: 33rd (2012), 8T (2013), 1st (2014) and 35T (2015). The other event was in the 2015 Shenzhen International, where he claimed a tie for 29th.
• Aphibarnrat will be looking for a successful defence of the title he won last year. Should he win he would become the third Asian player to win four or more European Tour titles, following Thongchai Jaidee (seven) and Jeev Milkha Singh (four).
• SSP Chawrasia, winner of the recent Hero Indian Open will be looking to join Jaidee and become the second player to win his first four European Tour titles on Asian soil. The previous three were all in his homeland of India.
• Miguel Angel Jiménez will be playing in his 672nd European Tour event. He will be trying to extend his record for the most number of European Tour victories in the Far East. This total currently stands at six.
