DID YOU KNOW - TRUE THAILAND CLASSIC PRESENTED BY BLACK MOUNTAIN
• The True Thailand Classic presented by Black Mountain is the first of five new events on the 2015 European Tour International Schedule. The other four are: Hero Indian Open, Shenzhen International, Afr/Asia Bank Mauritius Open and Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay.
• The venue for the event is Black Mountain. The course was opened in 2007. The course has been voted Thailand’s best course three times. In 2012 Black Mountain was named in Golf Digest’s top 100 courses outside the United States. This was the first time a Thai golf course had been selected in this list.
• The True Thailand Classic presented by Black Mountain represents the first time The European Tour has witnessed a European Tour event in Thailand since the 2007 Johnnie Walker Classic, won by Anton Haig. Previous to that, the Johnnie Walker Classic was played in Thailand in 1992, 94, 98, 2001 and 04.
• Black Mountain has staged three Asian Tour events since 2007. They are: 2009 and 2010 Black Mountain Masters and 2014 King’s Cup Hua Hin. (In 2011 Asia entertained Europe here at Black Mountain for the Royal Trophy).
• The True Thailand Classic presented by Black Mountain is the 18th different event to be staged between The European and Asian Tour, dating back to 1999.
• There are five players in this week’s field attached to Black Mountain, including three European Tour Members. They three are: Johan Edfors, Thongchai Jaidee and Rikard Karlberg.
