DID YOU KNOW -  TSHWANE OPEN

• The Tshwane Open is the fifth of six events held in South Africa during the 2016 season.

• Should George Coetzee make a successful defence of the title he would be the second South African this season to win the same event two years in a row, following Branden Grace (2015-16 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters).

• With his 2015 Tshwane Open triumph, George Coetzee became the first South African to win their first two European Tour titles on home soil since Dawie Van der Walt (2013 Tshwane Open and 2014 Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS HANDA). Coetzee’s first success was the 2014 Joburg Open.

• George Coetzee won the 2015 Tshwane Open at Pretoria Country Club, the club where he was attached to last year. He was the first player to win a European Tour event on a course where that player was attached to when the event was played, since Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard won the 2008 CASTELLO MASTERS Costa Azahar at the Club de Golf del Mediterraneo.

• Charl Schwartzel is looking for his second title of the 2016 European Tour season, after winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship for a fourth time. This will be his debut in the Tshwane Open. Should he win it would be his eighth European Tour success on home soil.

• Pretoria Country Club was used for the first time in European Tour competition at the 2015 Tshwane Open.
