• Should Tiger Woods win the WGC – Cadillac Championship again it would be his eighth success in the year’s second WGC event. This would equal the European Tour record he holds for most wins in the same event. The other tournament he has claimed on eight occasions is the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.

• Tiger Woods is looking to make a successful defence of his crown. Here are all the other WGC events he has won in back-to-back years: 1999-2001 Bridgestone Invitational, 2002-2003 Cadillac Championship, 2003-2004 Accenture Match Play Championship, 2005-2007 Bridgestone Invitational and 2005-2007 Cadillac Championship.

• Tiger Woods has been pretty invincible in WGC events. From the 42 he has played in he has won 18 and been runner-up twice. Overall he has been placed in the top ten 33 times.

• From his 13 previous appearances in the Cadillac Championship, the only time he has failed to finish in the top ten was in 2012 when he retired.

• The 2007 WGC – Cadillac Championship saw Tiger Woods create a further record by becoming the first player to win two different European Tour events for three consecutive years. The first tournament he won three years in succession was the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational between 1999-2001.

• There will be nine European Tour Members playing in the WGC – Cadillac Championship for the first time. They are: Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Jonas Blixt, Brendon de Jonge, Victor Dubuisson, Jin Jeong, Joost Luiten, Brett Rumford, Peter Uihlein and Dawie Van der Walt. Of those nine, de Jonge, and Van der Walt will be making their debuts in a WGC event.

• There are 68 players in the field with 19 different nations taking part. The USA have the most with 31, then come South Africa with eight.

• There are two 20 year olds in the field. They are Matteo Manassero and Jordan Speith. The American is younger by 99 days. While the oldest is Miguel Angel Jiménez, aged 50.

• The 2012 champion and current US Open Champion, Justin Rose, is looking to become the first European to win the same WGC event on two occasions.
