DID YOU KNOW – WGC – HSBC CHAMPIONS
*In claiming his first WGC title in the 2011 WGC – HSBC Champions, Martin Kaymer created WGC history by making up five shots in the final round. This set the largest final day comeback by a winner in a WGC stroke play event. This was matched by Dustin Johnson at the 2015 WGC – Cadillac Championship.
*Double Major champion, Jordan Spieth is making his third appearance. All three of the 2015 WGC Champions are competing. They are: Dustin Johnson (WGC – Cadillac Championship), Rory McIlroy (WGC – Cadillac Match Play) and Shane Lowry (WGC – Bridgestone Invitational).
*Bubba Watson will be looking to make a successful defence of the WGC – HSBC Champions. Should he do so he will be the first player to win this event in back-to-back years. (The only other player to win the same WGC tournament for two consecutive seasons is Tiger Woods).
*European Tour Members will look to continue their successful run in the WGC - HSBC Champions, having won the event in three of the past five seasons, with Francesco Mollinari (2010), Martin Kaymer (2011) and Ian Poulter (2012).
- There will be no fewer than 44 European Tour Members participating in the 2015 WGC – HSBC Champions. Eleven of the 44 will be making their debut in the event. They are: Byeong Hun An, Nick Cullen, Trevor Fisher Jnr, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Emiliano Grillo, Tyrrell HattonRichard T Lee, James Morrison, Thomas Pieters, Andy Sullivan and Danie Van Tonder. Fisher Jnr, Fitzpatrick, Grillo, Hatton, Lee, Morrison and Pieters making their debut in a WGC event.
