On the back of his second DP World Tour title in three weeks, Patrick Reed has risen inside the world’s top 20 for the first time in five years.
The American won the Qatar Masters on Sunday to go alongside his victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic last month and now finds himself 17th in the Official World Golf Ranking – his highest position since the Tour Championship on the PGA TOUR in August 2021.
His red-hot form, which includes a runner-up finish at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in between his two titles, means he is also the new leader on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.
An Honorary Life Member of the DP World Tour since 2019, Reed set his sights on becoming just the second American – after Collin Morikawa – to win the Race to Dubai after his two-shot triumph in Doha.
"It’s always been a dream of mine to be an American who comes over here and have an opportunity to win the Race to Dubai," he said.
His compatriot Chris Gotterup, a fellow DP World Tour member this season, also celebrated success over the weekend as he prevailed in a play-off at the WM Phoenix Open on the PGA TOUR.
The 26-year-old has made huge leaps in the past 12 months, particularly since his victory at the co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open last summer, which he followed up with a third-place finish at The Open.
Already a winner this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii, he is now a four-time winner on the PGA TOUR and up to a career-best fifth in the world rankings.
In other notable moves, Nicolai Højgaard, a 2023 Ryder Cup winner with Europe, is up to 50th after finishing in a tie for third at TPC Scottsdale.
A strong four-event Middle East stretch on the DP World Tour’s International Swing has also reaped rewards for Daniel Hillier, with the New Zealander climbing to a career-high 100th ahead of the first off-week of the year in the Race to Dubai schedule.
Calum Hill has finished runner-up in back-to-back events on the DP World Tour, moving the Scot to 124th.
