A graduate of the HotelPlanner Tour’s Class of 2024, Frenchman Couvra wasted little time making his mark.

A winner of prestigious amateur titles, he announced himself on golf’s global stage with victory at the Turkish Airlines Open in May — a breakthrough that capped a blistering start to his debut campaign, which featured three top-ten finishes in his opening five starts.

Another triumph nearly followed at the Italian Open in June, only for compatriot Adrien Saddier to edge him out and claim his maiden DP World Tour title. Couvra’s runner-up finish nonetheless proved significant, securing his place alongside Saddier at The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

Back-to-back weeks on UK soil then brought fresh milestones for the 22-year-old, as he teed it up in a Rolex Series event for the first time at the Genesis Scottish Open before making his Major Championship debut a week later in Northern Ireland.

While he missed the cut in the final Major of the year, he headed into his summer break on the DP World Tour riding high in eighth place on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World.

On his return to action for the start of the Back 9 at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo things proved more testing, missing the cut there and then also missing the weekend action at both the Omega European Masters and Amgen Irish Open.

Yet even in those setbacks, the foundations of a standout rookie season were clear.

When the Rolex Series returned for the BMW PGA Championship, Couvra rediscovered his form among star-studded company, carding a final-round 67 to finish tied for 13th on his Wentworth debut.

His homecoming at the FedEx Open de France brought another made cut, though he faded over the weekend. After skipping the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, he bounced back from a missed cut at the Open de España presented by Madrid with a top-20 finish at the star-studded, inaugural DP World India Championship.

And despite going without a top ten during the Back 9, he comfortably made his way through to the DP World Tour Play-Offs in the United Arab Emirates.

Beginning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship - the penultimate event of the campaign - in 14th place on the Race to Dubai Rankings, he finished in a tie for 23rd at Yas Links.

That saw him head into the DP World Tour Championship as one of nine 2024 HotelPlanner Tour graduates at the season-ending Rolex Series event.

Sitting 16th in the Rankings, dual membership with the PGA TOUR for 2026 was within reach for the Frenchman. But a closing 82 at Jumeirah Golf Estates instead capped off a disappointing finish to an otherwise breakthrough campaign that had already secured his place in Tour history as the Rookie of the Year.
