The Welshman bogeyed the par four first to slip back to seven under par in the first European Tour event in Denmark since 2003.

Dredge’s nearest challengers were Englishmen Matthew Nixon and Oliver Fisher on four under par.

Nixon birdied the third and fourth holes while Fisher had a mixed start to his round with a sequence of bogey-eagle-birdie from the third.

Dredge birdied four out of his last six holes on Friday to open up a four stroke lead at the halfway mark.

The 41 year old Welshman, who is slowly regaining his form after an injury ravaged 2013 campaign, birdied the 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes for three under par round of 68 to move to eight under par.

England’s Simon Wakefield was his nearest rival on Friday, on four under par, but he dropped a shot at the par three second on Saturday.

Two-time European Tour winner Dredge is chasing his first title since the 2006 Omega European Masters and is also trying to improve his position in the Race to Dubai, where he currently sits in 182nd position.
