Currently ranked as the world's largest modern smelter with a captive power station, DUBAL is no stranger to the fairways and greens of Dubai, having associated with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic since 1992 and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters since its inception in 2006. The extension of their contract reflects the company’s drive to support community initiatives and the broader goals of the Dubai Government.

Dubai has become synonymous with golf in recent years and a great deal of the city's popularity as a golf destination is due to the success of these two premier events, now an integral part of Dubai’s vibrant sporting landscape.

"DUBAL's ongoing support of the world-class tournaments, promoted and organised by ‘golf in DUBAi’ in our city, is one of the many ways that our company invests in the development of Dubai,” said Mohammed A Yahya, DUBAL’s Manager Corporate Relations and International Affairs. “We are particularly proud that our support to these events has helped raise Dubai's growling profile in the world golfing community.

"We are delighted to renew our association with ‘golf in DUBAi’ and hope our drive for excellence in sport will highlight Dubai's superb tourism and business infrastructure, amply demonstrating the city's innovative and cosmopolitan flair.

“These two events have been a catalyst in enhancing the image of the city of Dubai as an ideal golfing destination and we'll keep putting our best foot forward. At DUBAL, we consider corporate investment in the growth and development of Dubai to be both a duty and a privilege. Accordingly, we take pride in sponsoring and participating in world-class events that showcase and promote both the city of Dubai and DUBAL across the world.”

Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO, added: "DUBAL’s support, first as the main sponsors of the both the events and then as a sponsor, has been monumental and helped in creating real impact long before names like Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Ernie Els brought their famous presence to the city. We value their role and share their ‘Together-We-Shine’ philosophy.

“The fact that a state-owned company like DUBAL has backed our events from the beginning, it also shows their confidence in our ability to deliver a world-class product without compromising on quality. We appreciate their trust and hold them in high esteem. The teamwork is at the heart of all our achievements.”

Commissioned in 1979, DUBAL's Jebel Ali facility has grown into one of the world's largest and most successful primary aluminium producers. Over the years, it has transformed into a global aluminium producer, generating a total volume of 960,000 metric tonnes per year of quality hot metal in 2009. DUBAL is not only the largest producer of primary aluminium in the Gulf, but is also the leading aluminium player in the region.
