Michael Grecco who plays Beppe di Marco in BBC’s Eastenders is to play in the Victor Chandler British Masters Pro-Am on Wednesday May 29, 2002.
The London-based actor who has starred in the award winning “soap” for the past four years will join a host of celebrities in this annual event which precedes the Victor Chandler British Masters which gets underway from May 30-June 2.
Michael took up the game of golf three years ago as a form of relaxation from his hectic schedule at the famous BBC studios in Elstree. The 32 year old has
now whittled his handicap down to a respectable 18 and is a regular visitor to Woburn Golf & Country Club.
He recently commented: “I’m really looking forward to playing in the Victor Chandler British Masters Pro-Am as I love The Marquess Course. It is a superb venue and I just hope our team can produce a winning score”.
Some of the best-known names in golf will be competing in this year’s event including Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood and defending champion Thomas Levet. The flamboyant Frenchman defied the odds of 125-1 to win a four-man play-off at the third extra hole to pick up the winners cheque of £208,330 in 2001.
This year the Victor Chandler British Masters coincides with one of the most exciting events in world sport as football’s World Cup gets underway in Japan and Korea. Sports fans will be able to watch matches on the big screen in the tented village including England’s opening game against Sweden on June 2.
The Victor Chandler Betting Unit will be on site throughout the week offering the widest range of prices and bets on golf, football and all sports.
Entry to the Victor Chandler British Masters Pro-Am on Wednesday 29th May is free. Adult tickets throughout the week are £18 per day with a £3 discount if booked before May 1st.
