Edfors takes Putts for Charity total to £15,975

Johan Edfors holed a one putt to take Genworth Financial’s ‘Putts for Charity’ final total to £15,975 on the last day of the BMW PGA Championship.

The Swede followed in the footsteps of Ross Fisher, Robert Karlsson and Nick Dougherty who had previously helped the charity initiative on the specially constructed putting green in the tented village at Wentworth Club.

The initiative, run every day during the Championship, was organised by Genworth Financial, BMW and GOLFAID and raised money for The Rainbow Trust, smashing the target of £12,500.

Genworth Financial donated £1 for each one putt made by the public visiting the ‘Putts for Charity’ putting area and £2 for every one putt made by the players during the BMW PGA Championship. It donated £1,000 for Edfors "one putt" in the tented village.

Edfors said: “In Sweden I support the Special Olympics movement so I was delighted to participate in the Putts for Charity event. It was great to make my £1,000 one putt – I wish I had been able to make a few more on the course this week.

“GOLFAID  and the Genworth Foundation and BMW have created a fantastic way to raise money for charity at the Championship with literally hundreds of visitors and the players making their own Putts for Charity  to add to the total raised.”
