Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie, two of the world’’s leading golfers, have confirmed their participation in the Heineken Classic, which takes place at The Royal Melbourne Golf Course on January 28 – February 3.
“This is certainly the news we were hoping for,” said Tony Roosenburg, President of SFX Sports Golf. “Ernie Els has been a long time supporter of the Heineken Classic, in four tries he as come close but has yet to win the tournament.
“Colin Montgomerie played in Perth two years ago and quickly made his desire to participate in Melbourne known when the tournament moved to Royal Melbourne.
“We have previously announced Greg Norman’’s participation and to add to that two world class players, is a true reflection of the popularity of the Heineken Classic.”
The Heineken Classic, jointly sanctioned by The European Tour and the Australasian Tour, carries a total prize fund of Aus$2million.
