Ernie Els Wins Dubai Desert Classic to remain World Number Three

Ernie Els produced a spectacular eagle on the final hole of the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates to overtake Miguel Angel Jiménez and Stephen Dodd to win by a single stroke. Els remains third in the world but is only about half an average point behind Singh and about one point behind new World Number One Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods shot a final round of 66 including a crucial birdie on the 17th which put him one stroke clear of playing partner Phil Mickelson whose chip to tie clipped the edge of the hole on the 18th. Woods regains the World Number One spot which Vijay Singh, who finished tied 3rd with Zach Johnson, had occupied for exactly six months.
