Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from the third round at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.

Julien Guerrier

Two eagles in three holes helped Julien Guerrier catch Jorge Campillo, Dan Brown made a miraculous birdie, while Jon Rahm needs something special after day three of the 2024 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters.

Here is everything you need to know from the third round at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.

Eagles send Guerrier soaring

Julien Guerrier made two eagles in the space of three holes as his brilliant 63 saw him catch Jorge Campillo at the top of the leaderboard. France's Guerrier had already made five birdies in his first ten holes before firing a sensational second to four feet at the par-five 12th and another to nine feet at the long 14th. Converting both putts saw Guerrier catch Campillo, who began the day with a four-shot lead, with both players heading into the final round on 19 under par at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. Guerrier said after his round: “The key is the short game - it's where I made my score. I hit two great shots on the par fives and a little bit of luck as well; I was not playing exactly there but it finished well. It's not a sprint of a tournament, it's a marathon, so I just try to enjoy every moment.”

Campillo keeps it clean

Pine straw off the tee and finding sand with your approach has all the makings of a dropped shot but Campillo had not had a bogey on his card all week and got himself out of trouble with the putter.

From out of bounds to birdie

It's not often you hit your drive out of bounds but still gain a shot. However, that is exactly what happened to Dan Brown after his wayward tee shot on the 16th bounced back into play before a lovely approach from a native area set up a birdie from eight feet.

King of the swingers

Orthodox, unorthodox – there is more than one way of getting the job done.

Rahm with work to do

A third-round 68 left the two-time Major winner with a seven-shot gap to make up on Sunday.
