Past US Open champions Ernie Els and Retief Goosen of South Africa, along with New Zealander Michael Campbell, are among the 22 European Tour Members already exempt for the 2007 edition of the championship to be played from June 14-17 at Oakmont Country Club.
The number of fully exempt players, which currently stands at 58, will increase with the inclusion of the top 50 players from the World Golf Rankings, the top 10 money leaders on the PGA Tour and the top two money leaders on The European Tour as of June 3.
Local qualifying at 109 sites will begin on May 2, while Sectional qualifying at 13 sites will be held on June 4, including one at Walton Heath Golf Club in England, where Campbell qualified before winning the tournament in 2005.
Another sectional qualifier will be held on May 28 in Japan. It is the third consecutive year that the USGA has offered two international sectional qualifiers.
