David Howell finally overcame injuries and two runners up finishes so far this year to claim his first victory at the BMW International Open last week. His eigth top ten finish in fourteen starts in 2005 sees him rise to 22nd in the World Golf Rankings, sixth overall in the European Tour Order of Merit whilst earning his fans 333,330 fantasy points as the top pick from Pool C.
American John Daly, winner of this event in 2001, surged up the final day leaderboard, carding a 64 and finishing in a share for second place with Australian, Brett Rumford. Rumford found a return to the form that won him the 2004 Nissan Irish, finishing along side Daly, one shot behind Howell. Both players earned their supporters 173,710 fantasy points as the top performers from Pool A and Pool B respectively.
Simon Dyson put together a remarkable round of golf in the final round. Starting the day tied for 27th position, the Englishman was one over par through four holes before firing two eagles in a row, and adding seven birdies in the last eleven holes for a course record equalling 62. The second top ten finish of the season so far moves Dyson up to 54th position in the European Tour Order of Merit and earned his fans 60,000 fantasy points as the star player in Pool D.
Englishman Phillip Archer also secured his highest placed finish of the season, carding a final round 67 to finish in a tie for 19th position, whilst earning his fans 24,000 fantasy points as the top pick from Pool E.
Team of the Week went to "pedro de valdivia" managed by Gillard Alexandre whose team amassed a total of 611,720 points from a possible Fantasy Five total of 764,750.
